Today's Stoic Thought

“What you’re supposed to do when you don’t like a thing is change it. If you can’t change it, change the way you think about it. Don’t complain.”

When faced with a long commute to work, instead of complaining, consider using that time to listen to audiobooks or podcasts to make it more enjoyable and enriching. If you cannot change the situation, finding a positive perspective can transform your experience. By shifting your mindset, you can turn a tedious commute into a valuable learning opportunity.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Philippians 4:8 ESV

The verse encourages focusing on whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. This aligns with the Stoic idea of changing the way you think about a situation instead of complaining about it, ultimately leading to a more positive mindset and productive outcome.
