Today's Stoic Thought

“There will come a time in the distant future, where no one will know who you were, no one will know of your existence and contributions, no one will know your pain and suffering, and your happiness. Time will wipe away both men and the memories of men. Let yourself be free.”
Life Math Money

In our daily lives, it's easy to get caught up in seeking external validation or recognition. Remembering that eventually, all will be forgotten can help us focus on living authentically and in alignment with our values, rather than for the approval of others. For example, instead of constantly seeking praise for our work, we can find fulfillment in doing tasks to the best of our ability, knowing that true satisfaction comes from within, not from external praise.

There is no remembrance of former things, nor will there be any remembrance of later things yet to be among those who come after.
Ecclesiastes 1:11 ESV

The Bible verse highlights the concept of the transient nature of human existence and accomplishments. Ecclesiastes teaches us that all things are fleeting and will be forgotten in time, emphasizing the importance of seeking internal fulfillment rather than external validation. This aligns with the Stoic concept of Wisdom, by encouraging us to prioritize lasting values and virtues over temporary recognition.
