“The mind that is anxious about future events is miserable.”Seneca
When we constantly worry about the future, we rob ourselves of the present moment. Instead of anxiously thinking about what might happen, we can focus on taking action in the present to influence a positive outcome. For example, if we have a job interview coming up, we can prepare thoroughly beforehand by researching the company and practicing our responses, rather than dwelling on potential worst-case scenarios.
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Matthew 6:34 encourages us not to worry about tomorrow, for each day has enough trouble of its own. By focusing on the present and having courage to face challenges as they come, we can find peace and live more fully in the moment, aligning with the Stoic idea of not being anxious about future events.
