“Events in life mean nothing if you do not reflect on them in a deep way, and ideas from books are pointless if they have no application to life as you live it.”Robert Greene
Reflecting on our experiences helps us grow and learn from them. Similarly, just gathering knowledge without applying it in our daily lives is futile. For example, reading a book on time management is pointless if we don't implement any of the strategies in our work routine to be more productive.
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
The verse encourages us not only to listen to the word but also to act on it. It emphasizes the importance of applying wisdom in our lives, similar to the Stoic idea that acquiring knowledge is meaningless if it is not put into practice.
