“If you are irritated by every rub, how will your mirror be polished?”

In modern life, facing challenges and difficulties can be seen as the "rub" that polishes our character. For instance, if someone at work constantly criticizes your ideas, instead of being irritated, you can choose to see it as an opportunity to hone your communication skills and learn how to better articulate your thoughts under pressure. This way, you gradually cultivate resilience and patience, shaping a more polished version of yourself.

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
James 1:2-4 ESV

James 1:2-4 encourages believers to consider it pure joy when they face trials, as it produces perseverance and ultimately leads to maturity and completeness. This aligns with the Stoic idea of not being irritated by challenges, but rather embracing them as opportunities for growth and self-improvement.
