“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”Viktor Frankl
In modern life, we often face situations outside of our control, such as traffic delays. Instead of letting frustration take over, we can shift our mindset and use the time to listen to an interesting podcast or practice deep breathing to stay calm. By changing how we respond to the situation, we can maintain our peace of mind and make the most out of the circumstances.
Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned, in whatever situation I am, to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.
The verse reminds us of the importance of inner strength and resilience in difficult situations. Like Viktor Frankl's quote suggests, when faced with challenges beyond our control, we can choose to cultivate contentment and adaptability in ourselves. This aligns with the Stoic pillar of Courage, as it takes courage to shift our perspective and find peace within ourselves amidst adversity.
